Documents To Go 9 Now Available
InTact Technology Eliminates the Need for Synchronization
DataViz announced an upgrade to their mobile office suite, Documents To Go, for Palm OS 5 handhelds. Most Palm users will already be familiar with Documents To Go as a version of it comes with most Palm OS 5 handheld devices. The core functionality will be the same: users have the ability to view, edit, and create Microsoft Office files and also view native PDF documents and graphic files such as .jpg and .bmp graphics.
One of the big new features in version 9 is DataViz’ InTact Technology. InTact was developed by DataViz to allow users to work directly with their native files, no translation or synchronization necessary. The technology in older versions (called DocSync) would retain formatting; however it required a sync with the desktop. Now, users can transfer documents back and forth via email, Bluetooth, IR, etc, and all original formatting will be maintained (which is important for users who spend a lot of time on the road).
Other features include updates to the Word To Go and Sheet To Go applications to support things like footnotes, endnotes, and new excel charts. There is also a new file explorer to allow easy navigation through folders on an expansion card.
