Customer Feedback: Documents To Go

DXTG_Logo.jpgOne of the most important things we consider when adding features or releasing new products is feedback from current or potential customers. We like to hear what you have to say (good or bad) so that we can offer products that are as useful and customer friendly as possible.

We get a variety of different comments and questions from our customer feedback form and, while we can’t answer all feedback messages, we thought we would take a moment to address a few comments that we’ve seen recently in regards to Documents To Go.

Please keep the feedback coming! From time to time we will post a few of the comments here as a resource for others who may have the same questions.

Stephen S. – Documents To Go: Palm OS
“…Please provide update on when Documents to go will support Office 2007 documents. Thanks.”

There will be an upgrade available by the middle of 2007 for Office 2007 support. In the meantime, your files will work fine with Documents To Go if you save them in the Office 2003 formats.

If you want to be notified when Office 2007 support is officially available you can leave feedback here.

Enrico P. - Documents To Go: Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone
“An excellent product. D2G was the reason I purchased my first Palm device, now it is the reason for my first smartphone.”

Thanks! Always great to hear some kind words from our customers.

Max M. - Documents To Go: Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone
“I have always been pleased with the Documents to Go on my Palm. I now use the WM5 Smartphone platform and am just as pleased, except there is no file synchronization. Please consider including this very necessary component! ...”

One of our main goals with the smartphone edition of Documents To Go was to ease the pain of not being able to edit email attachments or create a new file on the fly. A desktop app doesn’t really come into play for that.

Despite the lack of a desktop component, there are a variety of ways to transfer files to and from your handheld (desktop ActiveSync, Bluetooth, IR, expansion cards). This support document will give you some more details on file transfer.

Having said all of that, we definitely appreciate feedback like this and if we continue to see requests for this we will evaluate adding a desktop component.

Greg M. - Documents To Go: Palm OS
“When will I be able to use [Documents To Go] with Vista. I cannot get [it] to work.”

Currently Documents To Go does not support the Windows Vista OS. Our engineering team is looking into this issue and we will surely update our software to support Vista as soon as we can. Note that Palm Desktop and Hotsync Manager (which we use to sync our files) are not fully compatible with Vista at this point either as you can see on Palm’s website.

Jack C. - Documents To Go: Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone
“DOES YOUR PRODUCT SUPPORT THE T-MOBILE MDA?”

Basically, you can divide Windows Mobile 5.0 devices into two categories: devices with a touch screen (Pocket PC edition) and devices without a touch screen (smartphones). This version of Documents To Go supports smartphones only. The T-Mobile MDA is a Pocket PC edition device so this version of Documents To Go will not function properly on that device. Make sure you check the supported devices list before installing to make sure you have a supported device.
