I received this mail the 9th of april:
Thanks to all who have been waiting patiently for the arrival of Documents To Go for iPhone. The next time you hear from us, it'll be to tell you that Documents To Go is available for your iPhone and iPod touch in the App Store!
When will that be, you ask? Early to mid May. And trust us, there are some very exciting things about this app that we haven't let out of the bag yet. We hope you'll agree it's worth the wait!
MID JUNE and I'M STILL WAITING!!

Seems to me that as of June 2009 DataViz should be awarded the Duke Nukem Award for Vapor Excellence.

Thanks for today's email, and the schedule of next quarter. I switched from a Treo to an iPhone 2 months ago and I've been desperately missing DTG since then. I will hang in there a little longer.

For your info, as I've not seen anywhere else info, I point you to an italian site that finally got some news:
http://www.macitynet.it/macity/aA36598/documents_to_go_su_iphone_le_prime_immagini_dal_gsma.shtml
and
http://www.macitynet.it/immagini/visitaconnoi/gsma08dataviz/
For non italian readers, they had, at GSMA Barcellona show last monday feb 16th, a demo of documents to go for iphone.
They only had the word editor working, and pdf viewer, you can see the photos.
There is full editing capabilities, with clipboard suppor (just within the application of course).
Excel and Powerpoint editing features are still at developing stages, but they hope to deliver the suite within the second quarter this year.
So, seems is really coming, even if we can't hold our breath.

I have a couple of questions.
I have an Ipod Touch, not an Iphone.
Will be able to copy/paste?
I know i can receive documents and spreadsheets, but will i be able to now save and edit them?
Thanks
Any idea when this software will be available?

Thank you Jason, for a sign of presence. :-)
At least we know there is something out there going on, as I was in fear could all be stopped who knows why.
I think all of us, eager user, would appreciate some news about the time frame we could expect a release.
Can you tell us anything?
Thank you,
Giuseppe

@Unum sed Leonem:
Hibernation, eh? Look, I know everyone is anxious to get their hands on this software. Back in August and September we were getting bombarded with calls and emails asking about our plans for iPhone. So we decided to put up a page that said everything we could say: 'yes, its coming, put your email here and we'll tell you when its ready'.
We've got a lot of projects in the hopper, some we've talked about a little like iPhone and Android, some are in market like BlackBerry, and some are nothing more than our logo in a slide deck at this point.
I know its been a while since we've said anything new, but remember this isn't a 99 cent game that gets thrown together in a day or two. This is an office suite for your iPhone and we wanna make sure we do it right. There will be some exciting things that we're doing that haven't been done yet that could make you a lot more productive with your iPhone.
Thanks to everyone for being so patient. I promise you its in the works and based on other apps I've seen that are available now, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Will DataViz at all port the Documents to Go suite to the iPhone OS? That's a question even DataViz fails a definitive answer to.
But playing a Cat-and-Mouse game does DataViz masterly, indeed. On par with QuickOffice (the MobileFiles Pro developers)…
The question is not "will DataViz have DTG for iPhone ready before QuickOffice's MFP transpires to contain a (proper) word processor?"… the question is: "Will either DataViz - or QuickOffice - ever deliver on their respective commitment to "support" the platform?" As it looks now, probably not - certainly not in the near future.
Dear DataViz, let me wish you on behalf of myself and hundreds of thousands of fellow iPhone users a leisurely hibernation. But, as our interests vary considerably, I hope that by the time you've woken up, a plethora of alternative portable Office suites have found their haven at the AppStore.

I hope that when DTG for the Touch comes out, that we can email documents or cache them online and not just synch documents on my local network. I have had DTG for my Palm for years and it has been great. I look forward to having it on my Touch.

Disappointed that Dataviz has not sent out an update in the past several months as to when DTG will be available on the iPhone.

So when is this app coming? I was a user of DXTG on the Palm for many years and am hoping this app comes to the iPhone soon.

When I gave up my "Smart Phone" for the "iPhone" the thing that I missed the most was "Documents to Go", because the iPhone have most of the commonly used features (plus others) of the "Smart Phone" Thanks for give us some idea of how long soon is.

As a consultant, I am about to give up on specifying the iPhone. The iPhone does not meet requirements without offline MS Docs capabilities. Some news from your company would be helpful in calming my client.

Is ever going "soon" to happen any time soon, in this year ?
:-)
I already signed up, even completed the survey, quite a few weeks ago, and still no news at all.
So, no news or anticipations ?

Can't wait for this to happen ... was a big user on Palm OS (remember Sony Clie ;-) What I would really like to see is Smartlist ... one of the best mobile databases I have used...really versatile formualas, etc. That is one this that would be great on a portable information device (oh and I just remember today i uploaded an smartlist app 5 years ago and over the past 5 years, 3006 people downloaded it ... yay ! And I can't even use it myself -- no Palm)....anyway... sorry about the rant....I'm just happy and optimistic

Will this be just for viewing files, or will you be able to edit/create new documents? The iPhone is lacking a word processor with copy/paste and spell check. I mean come on Steve Jobs, get over yourself!

i need this badly! any updates?
Posted by: iPhoneJunkie | October 30, 2008 1:35 AM
this is prob the next best thing since slice bread.
Will the Docs to Go for the iPhone also work on the iPod Touch? and will one be able to connect the Docs to Go ppt presenter through the iPhone / iPod Touch to a projector?
there used to be limitations on editing ppt files on the Palm if the files came from a Mac. Is this still a limitation on the iPhone / iPod Touch?
